If you are charged with Reckless Driving in Virginia Beach and the speed was determined by Pacing then the officer must have a calibration of the speedometer of his vehicle with him in court pursuant to VA Code §46.2-942.

“In the trial of any person charged with exceeding any maximum speed limit in the Commonwealth, the court shall receive as evidence a sworn report of the results of a calibration test of the accuracy of the speedometer in the motor vehicle operated by the defendant or the arresting officer at the time of the alleged offense. The report shall be considered by the court or jury in both determining guilt or innocence and in fixing punishment.”

Therefore, if your officer determined your speed by Pacing then your lawyer should speak with the officer the day of court before your case is called and make sure that the officer has the correct calibration on them. If the officer does not have the correct calibration on them then your lawyer should move to have your case dismissed.
